Sardinia has a pleasant 6 month summer, hot and dry from May to October. Temperatures in July and August are frequently over 30 degrees centigrade (86°F) and not much lower in June and September but you can always cool off in the sea or up in the mountains. The mildest months on the coasts are May and October. Two summer winds sweep the island – the mistral from the north west and the stifling scirocco from the south. Winters may be mild on the coasts but can cold and rainy with snow on the mountains. April is unpredictable.
